Student Lending Works Supports New Education Legislation

COLUMBUS, OHIO - Student Lending Works, Ohio's designated non-profit student lender, is pleased to support the student aid grants and not-for-profit student loan provisions of the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009, introduced on July 15 by Congressman George Miller (D - CA), Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor. This Act will increase funding support for student need-based financial aid, such as the Pell Grants program, while enabling student and family focused customer services provided by not-for-profit organizations.

Student Lending Works has helped thousands of Ohio students and their families make informed financial decisions by assisting them with the financial aid process. The Act, should it become law, will enable Student Lending Works to continue this work.

Donald Kohne, Managing Director of Student Lending Works, supports Chairman Miller's announcement. "The legislation as it stands will have a measurable impact on Ohio students by increasing access to grant funds and continuing the exceptional student services provided in Ohio by Student Lending Works" said Kohne. "Student Lending Works will expand its mission to assist Ohio students and their families in managing the cost of higher education."
